 Today's
economy has put a strain on everyone.
Jobs are scarce, dollars are scarcer,
and almost everyone is desperate to find
ways to help make ends meet.
People in need aren't lazy or refusing
to work. Many of those who have worked
for many years - even people with college
or graduate degrees - have found their
jobs eliminated due to a strained economy.
Worst of all, it is our society's most
innocent - our children - who suffer the
most. Young people are in greatest need
of life's most basic building blocks:
nutritious food. But with costs rising
everywhere, it has become increasingly
difficult for struggling parents to feed
their children what they need to grow
and develop into healthy adults.
Add childhood obesity and diabetes into
the mix, and the case could be made that
our young ones are more at risk than ever
of devastating health problems that could
strain already tight family budgets even
